Dr. Engel is President and Chief Research Scientist for Florida Custom Synthesis. Dr Engel graduated summa cum laude from Georgia Southern University in 2004, where he was a Governor’s Scholar and recipient of an Outstanding Senior Award. As an MDS and FSU Fellow in the labs of Prof Dudley at FSU, Dr Engel achieved the total synthesis of an arteannuin sesquiterpene natural product, developed a new method for the olefination of hindered ketones, and helped establish Florida Custom Synthesis through a joint venture with the College of Business. Dr Engel assumed the role of President of Florida Custom Synthesis upon completing his PhD degree in organic synthesis in 2009.

Mr. Kinney coordinates Business Development and Operations for FCS. He received a degree in civil engineering from Clarkson University in 1975 and later an MBA from the University of Vermont. He joined the IBM Corporation in 1981 as a civil engineer and quickly rose through several levels of management. During his 28 years at IBM, he launched and managed multiple internal start-up businesses as the company ventured into new IT areas. Tim Kinney moved to Tallahassee and began consulting on the business development of FSU start-up ventures, including FCS, which he joined full-time when the company began operations in 2009.
Dr. Dudley graduated with Honors from Florida State University (FSU) in 1995 with a double major in chemistry and biochemistry. After earning his PhD in organic chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2000, Dr Dudley continued his training in organic synthesis as an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow, splitting time between the Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Center and Columbia University in New York. In 2002, Dr Dudley returned to his alma mater as an Assistant Professor, where he was awarded tenure upon promotion in 2008.
In addition to serving as the primary scientific advisor for Florida Custom Synthesis, Inc., Dr Dudley is the Raymond Cottrell Family Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at FSU. He is a three-time recipient of the FSU Innovator Award (2006–2008) and was featured as a member of the Tallahassee New Establishment in Tallahassee Magazine in 2006. Greg Dudley was raised in Miami, Florida, and has lived in Tallahassee for over ten years.
